Pulse is a recurring column where we ask for readers’ takes on varying topics in a weekly survey and report back with our findings.

As the upcoming election approaches, many are wondering what its potential effects will be on various aspects of our personal and professional lives, including the housing market. From economic policies to interest rates and regulatory environments, all types of policies can significantly influence real estate trends.

That’s why we asked: How are you feeling about this year’s election? How do you think it will impact the housing market, and what policy decisions are you hoping to see? How do local, state and federal elections impact the housing market in different ways, and how does that impact your decision-making in the booth?

Here’s what you had to say:

Longer answers

  • Afraid of election interference by the mainstream media.
  • I feel more optimistic now that we have Kamala as an option. It’s refreshing to have someone who isn’t in their 70s or 80s as an option. Finally, I have someone I can vote for, so I don’t feel like I have to pick the lesser of two evils.
  • Hoping for anyone other than Harris.
  • I worry about inflation returning should there be a second Trump administration. His proposed tariffs will increase the cost of imports for those who can least afford them. His proposed extension of income tax cuts will dramatically increase the deficit and increase the national debt. His proposal to shut down the border and send troops into Mexico will result in a shortage of labor that will negatively impact home building. It will be four years of chaos and retribution.
  • Trump will win! Make America Great Again!
